A Little Pick Me Up

It was Thurday afternoon and I stepped into the drug store by my work to pick up some Advil as I have been in a minor arthritis flare up for the past month. Not too major but enough to make life a little sucky. So after grabbing the Advil, I wandered to the checkout and I see they had a $3 table setup with makeup on it. Oh goody! That put a little pip in my step. The majority of the products were GOSH products; liner, shadows, glosses. After flipping thru all the pencils and tubes, I only found a gloss I liked. As I am too not familar with GOSH products I wasn't going to go crazy at the $3 table LOL plus I only had $20 on me and the Advil was like $8.99 so I only had about $9 to spend.

They also had some Rimmel tri-pan shadows on sale. So I pickup this neutral set. I got to say I like the dark brown out of this pan; it's nicely pigmented and goes on like butter! The other colours were not so pigmented. :(

I am liking the gloss too. I wasn't so sure at first as it is orange. There were more pinky/plum tones but I have so many pinks that I thought I would try the orange - for $3 I would chance it.
To my amazement, I was liking it. It looked fairly decent on me. It's a great colour for summer. So now it has been floating around in my purse with my other fav glosses I wear everyday. There is usually 3 floating around in there LOL

swatches:

< the swatch doesn't do the gloss justice LOL I suck at swatches, anyhow, I have some pigment to my lips so the colour is more a peachy golden sheen.
Again, I am terrible with swatching, the dark brown is the best colour in the pan. I was quite suprised at how well it went on. It was almost creamy and it blended really well.

FRACK It’s hot!

I know I have been MIA lately but OMG I have lost my will to blog! I am so over this heat wave! Just walking outside is like a kick in the face. LOL. It is really hot here in the Great White North. Tres chaud! Today it has reached 34°C (93°F) which feels like 46°C (115°F) with the humidex. That is just insane!!! If I doubted global warming before I certainly do not now!

Anyhoooo , what have I been wearing on my face in this ridiculous heat wave? What are my summertime go to makeup items?

Well first, a moisturizer with a lot of SPF. I have been using Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (SPF30). This is a great moisturizer; I like the reflective quality it has in it. It makes your face kind of glow.  If I am really lazy, which I have been lately, I will just use Origins VitaZing (SPF 15). You kill 2 birds with one stone; moisturizer and light coverage.  The VitaZing is dark enough on me to provide a light coverage. I don’t know if this would be good for people with really fair skin. You might get orange face :O
If I am wearing foundation, I am going to work, otherwise I do not bother. I know it will just melt off in this ridiculous heat. So I have been wearing my MAC Mineralized SkinFinish in Medium over the VitaZing. Then I apply some of the E.L.F. Contouring Blush and Bronzer duo, a little MAC Painterly Paint Pot on the lids and then I use the bronzing shade of the E.L.F. duo as a crease colour. I tell you, I am lazy when it is this hot!

I can’t go anywhere without some waterproof liner (L’Oreal’s Infallible). Nothing major just enough to make me look like I have some fuller lashes, just a bit on the outer edge of my top lash.

Yesterday, I grabbed some waterproof mascara - Cover Girl Lashblast. I really wanted the L’Oreal Voluminous waterproof mascara but it was severely overpriced at the store I was at.  I needed the waterproof mascara really bad. In this heat, there is a lot of ‘facial perspiring’ going on, dripping in my eyes.  Enough said. It is so gross LOL! I hate being this hot. Since I have only used this for one day, I cannot tell you how well it comes off. I do like the coverage. LashBlast used to be my favourite mascara but now I’m a L’Oreal Voluminous girl but I am not so much of a hardcore fan that I will pay a ridiculous price for mascara. The L’Oreal Voluminous waterproof mascara was $14.99. LashBlast was on sale for $6.99. Yeah I know- easy decision, Right?

For my lips, I have been using my Smoothlips lip balm lately as it seems to be the only lip product I own with SPF in it. Then whatever lip gloss I grabbed that morning or is floating around at the bottom of my purse goes on top of the balm.
My Lazy Summer Face
If anyone has tips on how to keep makeup on your face during impossible heat and humidity, please let me know. Now I must go crawl back in front of the A/C…..
