Hauling Madness – Glamour Doll Eyes

Don’t yah just love getting makeup hauls in the mail? First, it was fun shopping for it, getting it in the cart and then managing a successful check out. (Never mind the buyer’s remorse the next day about spending so much HAHA). THEN, the products show up in mail (hopefully all in one piece)! Double the fun!  Ahh, just the thought of it brings a smile to my face J.

I have been achy for a couple months (stupid arthritis) so actually walking around the mall for hours isn’t so appealing to me right now. So I have been hauling off the net J. But I have been finding some awesome deals.

Let’s see what have I hauled the past few months.....

v  The Urban Decay Naked Palette and Naked 24/7 eye pencil set from The Shopping Channel – Deal: 24/7 pencil set was marked down to $25 and free shipping

v  MUG eyeshadows and brushes from Makeup Geek – Deal:  my whole order was 20% off.

v  ChinaGlaze TechnoPop Light set plus some other goodies from Nail Polish Canada – Deal: cheapest price I could find for the set plus free shipping and no GST (tax)

v  A massive order of brushes from Coastal Scents – Deal: saved 20% to 40% on brushes

And the most recent haul was from Glamour Doll Eyes...
13 sample jars, Control Freak eye primer and 2 free sample baggies

This March, Glamour Doll Eyes had a March Makeup Madness sale each Monday. Vee, the owner, would release 30 coupon codes on her Facebook page that could be used at checkout. I managed to scoop one up a couple of weeks ago - Deal: Buy $15 of sample jars (non collections) and save 30%. I got 13 sample jars and grabbed a Control Freak eye primer.

Last year, I purchased some loose eyeshadow samples from Glamour Doll Eyes and I really was impressed with them. So when I saw this sale, I jumped on it right away. Well as soon as I remembered... and I got free shipping for buying samples and/or because my gross total was $40 before the discount.

I got my order on Tuesday. It took about 8 working days to get to me from Nevada. Not too bad.

I will be breaking this particular haul up into a couple of post as I don’t want to blow up any servers with an insane amount of pictures! And I want to play around with a Control Freak (primer) this weekend.

I have been pretty busy at work this week, but I did manage to play with a few of the shadows. I am so loving DinoSpotz right now. I basically slapped it on this yesterday morning as I was in a rush to get out of the door. I put on DinoSpotz, a little Urban Decay Buck to blend the edge out, MAC Blacktrack Fluidline and mascara. I will be getting a full-sized jar of this shadow for sure! Because I used it wet on the lids, it would change in certain lighting to a greenish teal colour. So cool! I wanted to capture that but I got busy and forgot to try taking a picture in a different room/lighting. :P
hardly any makeup, just Dinospotz on the eyes

The 13 shadows I bought were: Royal Assassin, DinoSpotz, Makin’ A Scene, Urban Trash, Graves in May , Secretive, Angel Wings, Gold Digger, Juicy Mango, Veteran, Glam Gal, Typical Girl and  All Nighter

Here is Royal Assassin, DinoSpotz, Makin’ A Scene, Urban Trash

A dark purple with flecks of greenish blue silver glitter.
Not so noticable when swatched. Crazy in the lid though

DinoSpotz, its a duochrome that is a rusty brown and has flecks of green in it.
I <3 DinoSpotz

What an awesome silver, I am digging the simple metallic wonderness of this one
Total blackout when wet

See how DinoSpotz changes! Urban Trash is so matte black when wet
Swatches: Makin' a Scene and Dino Spotz are awesome shadows, wet or dry. Royal Assassin and Urban Trash are definitely way better wet/foiled. Urban Trash could possible be used as a liner it is so black when wet. They were kind of flakey/dusty when I swatched them dry. But then I was only using my finger. So I think on my next set of swatches I will redo them using a brush.

So what do you think? You likey? Sorry I am tired. I better quite playing with makeup and go to bed...

China Glaze ElectroPop Lights from Nail Polish Canada

China Glaze ElectroPop Lights

If you are from Canada, you probably have seen the ads for Nail Polish Canada. They are everywhere. One night I decided to check them out. For a couple weeks (yes weeks), I perused their site, wishing I could order everything. They have TONNES of polishes and kits. It tooks weeks to go through it all HAHA.  I finally decided I wanted the China Glaze ElectoPop Lights set. I love China Glaze and I love creme polishes so I thought this would be a great set to try.

At Nail Polish Canada, the set was $39 (plus GST) with free shipping for orders over $29. Bonus  JThe only other place I could find the ElectroPop set was at Chatters and it was $42 (plus it in a very busy shopping area that I try to avoid at all costs HAHA).  So I placed an order for the ElectoPop set, an Orly Shine On Diamond mini polish, and a mini Orly Bonder. I ordered on Sunday and when I got to work on Thursday, my order was sitting on my desk. Pretty darn fast! Everything was bubble wrapped and packed tightly and safely.

There was a little snafu with the Orly Bonder, I got the Orly Won’t Chip Topcoat instead. So I emailed Nail Polish Canada regarding the mix up and Nikki of Nail Polish Canada had the Bonder out to me that night! I have to say they have great customer service! I received the Bonder the following Monday. So everything is cool.

Gothic Lolita
This one has a slight bluish duochrome to it. LOVE IT!
I haven't tried all of them yet but I am getting to it! I found Electic Beat and Gothic Lolita went on very smoothly and covered nicely with two regular coats. Sweet Hook was kind of streaky still after two coats.

Would I buy again or recommend to others? Yes I would! Right now Nail Polish Canada is having free shipping on butter London polishes. Order one get free shipping with the whole order. Plus they still have the ‘order $29 and get free shipping’ is still on. I am thinking I just might have to get butter London Knackered now!

Luxe Box March 2012

Want to see what I got in my March Luxe Box? Then keep reading J.

March 2012 Luxe Box

March is Loose Button's one year anniversary. In the March box, Loose Button included a seeded Welcome card. You can plant this paper to grow some wildflowers. Cool idea. Very eco friendly. They also rolled out the First in Line selection option again this month. The options were Cargo single eyeshadow, Cargo Glitter Top Coat and Fekkai Hair Care.

seeded Welcome card (click to make larger)

The rundown: 6 samples (1 haircare, 1 cosmetic, 1 skincare, 3 perfumes) + 1 bonus item.

My thoughts...

DDF Advance Firming Cream: I am glad I got this one; I am all about anti-aging right now. My skin is so dry and shot right now. I will be trying this out tonight... okay maybe tomorrow night, just in case I have a bad reaction. I do not want to have to go work with a messed up face HAHA

Cargo  – Glitter Top Coat eyeliner: This item was the one I chose for First in Line. Not sure why I did that HAHA but the eyeshadow was gone so I selected this. I am not much of Glitter on the eyes type of person but I will try it  J

Kèretase Resistance – Masque Age Recharge: This hair masque looks promising. If I follow the directions on the card then there is probably only one use in this. I think this will be part of my Sunday night wind down this week.

Loose Button – My Scent: 3 perfume samples. Meh... I have so many perfume samples right now I can’t remember which smell is what.

Bonus item was ck Shock for him. What? Why? ~~Sigh~~ my box! ME! ME! ME! LOL

Anyhooooo, I am eager to try the DDF cream and the hair masque. I still have warm fuzzies from last’s month Luxe Box ...oh China Glaze nail polish... so I am not as excited with this month’s box but I am not unhappy either. So what do think of March’s Luxe Box? Did you get the same thing as me?

If you are interested in trying out the Luxe Box, here is my invite link or you can sign up at Loosebutton.com. The service is $12 per month.  J

I WENT LIP BUTTER CRAZY!!!

Okay so I went a little nuts this weekend at Shoppers DrugMart :S

Shoppers DrugMart had a crazy deal-lio on Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters, Revlon Super Luster Lipstick and Lipglosses. This past Sunday and Monday, they were $3.99 (limit of 4). They were $5.99 over the limit and are $5.99 the rest of week.  A Thank You to Halifax @ SparkedBeauty for the heads up on the sale :).

On Sunday I was with my bestie at Shoppers and since she only wanted one lip butter, so I made her use two of her ‘limit’ to purchase more for me at $3.99. HAHA greedy much?

Thennnnn the next day, on my way to work I stopped at another Shoppers Drug Mart and grabbed 2 more lip butters plus a Super Luster Lipgloss in Coral Reef.

I am ashamed of myself...well not really. BUWHAHAHA
Click to make large

I kept putting off buying these as they were a little pricy for me. I think the cheapest I ever saw them at was $8.99 at Wal-Mart.
Lip Butter swatches (in sunlight) - Super Luster lipgloss on far right

Right now, I have only really tried out Crème Brulee (love it) and Peach Parfait (love it even more). I am kicking myself for not getting one of these earlier! UGGHHH.  These are moisturizing and have a decent colour payoff. I look at them as a lip glossy type of product and not a lipstick. But I was a little sad they don’t stay on the lips very long. I had to reapply a lot. I drink coffee throughout the morning and these transferred like crazy.

So you probably see that I bought 9 Revlon lip products all together but only swatched 7, right? Well, I plan on including 2 in my one year giveaway -  a Strawberry Shortcake and Tutti Frutti. So whatta yah think of that? Huh?

Tutti Frutti and Strawberry Shortcake
The sale at Shoppers Drug Mart goes until Friday at $5.99 each.

PS: I just realized I forgot to take pics of the product inside the tube :P ooops.

Tan About Town

Hey there, I hope everyone had a great St. Patty’s Day weekend – no massive hangovers I hope HAHA!

On Saturday, I popped into Sephora to pick up some Urban Decay eye primer (original). My samples are almost kaput and I can’t live without this stuff now.  As I went through the gauntlet to the checkout, I invariably ended up grabbing something extra O_o.  I picked up Benefit’s sample kit, Tan about Town. I believe it was released Fall 2011.

The deluxe sample sized kit retails for $12 USD/$15 CDN and contains 3 products:
click to make larger

Some Kind-a Gorgeous – Medium – (Full size $29 USD/$36 CDN)  As per Sephora’s website, Some Kind-a Gorgeous is  The Foundation Faker (for Medium Complexions) is a lightweight, translucent, foundation-like product smoothes out imperfections and evens skin tone with a silky, smooth finish that's super natural and super gorgeous.”  I had originally thought it was a concealer but apparently it is foundation. The colour seems a tad dark but I think I can pull it off.  This kit only comes with Medium so fair ladies will not be able to use this particular product. I will do an update once I give it a full day run through.
Some Kind-a Gorgeous
Hoola - Bronzing powder (Full size $28 USD/$36 CDN) – this was the main reason I picked up this kit. I always wanted to try Hoola but at $36 ... well that’s a lot of clams for something I had thought was too dark for me. Turns out it is the perfect matte bronzer. Its has no shimmer what so ever, doesn't give me Pumpkin face and it doesn't look muddy as the day goes on. The pic below is taken just before I washed my face for bed. Once this little bad boy is done I am getting the full sized product :D.
Hoola bronzer
BadGal Lash – Mascara Black (Full size $19 USD/$26 CDN). Another product I wanted to try but I always know there is cheaper versions of this type of mascara which prevented me from splurging on it. My friend uses this mascara and raves about it so I was itching to try it. But I am saving my sample for my travels this summer. Even as I typed that I knew I would end up using it before that HAHA.

Some kind of Gorgeous (top)
Hoola (bottom)
Hoola on my cheek
Excuse the grumpy face, I took this pic last night just before I got ready for bed

Pros: great value pack at $15 CDN for deluxe samples to try before committing to the full sized product. Great for travelling.  All 3 products can be used to create an instant face to go in a pinch.

Cons: only one colour for Some Kind-a Gorgeous. The packaging for Hoola seems a bit flimsy, I hope I don't end up smashing the crap out of this :(

You want to try out BadGal lashes or Hoola bronzer cheap? Get the Tan about Town kit. Perfect time, Summer is right around...oh wait it is here already!

What 'extra' stuff have you ended up grabbing "running the gauntlet" at Sephora? Has anyone ever left there with out picking something out of those bins?

Funny little tidbit: I had dragged my brother with me to Sephora as we were on our way to have lunch. As I am browsing, he is just standing there kinda stunned looking at all the makeup. He says to me “You guys use all this stuff?” to which I replied, “Well not all at once.” The MA standing beside us had a good laugh.

Glymm box March 2012

Yay Glymm box time! I admit I peaked (on the web) to see what was coming HEHE but even though I knew what was coming, I was very very curious as to what colour some of the products would be. To Glymm’s benefit this month, they were the first box to come this month. Last month they were the last one. Kudos Glymm! J

This month’s theme was Spring Fling.

The rundown: 2 full sized products, 2 samples + 1 bonus sample.

Nu.Me Feather Hair Extensions – Blue: Full size product. When I saw these in other people’s boxes, I assumed they were clip-ins but you have to weave them into your hair. I like my blue extensions but I am scared of the snarly mess I am going to make. You should see my ponytails YIKES!

Anastasia Hydrafull Gloss in Sorbet
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Hydrafull Gloss in Sorbet: I am super excited about this product! In my first Glymm box (January), I received a sample of Anastasia’s Brow Gel and I am loving it. So I am going to rock this. Plus there was a coupon for a free full sized gloss if you purchase 2 Anastasia products from the Glymm website. I might just have to use it J

M. Asam Magic Fini
M. Asam Magic Fini: I have never heard of this before. It is a base before your foundation I am assuming. It looks a little dark but it sheers out to a matte finish. It supposed to smooth away wrinkles, large pores, conceal uneven skin tone and imperfections to reveal a sunkissed glow. WOW that’s a lot to promise. I am looking forward to that!

Ocean Nail Polish in Pretty Please: Full size product. Another brand I have never heard of. Pretty Please is very nice sheer pearly pink colour. This will be great for a French manicure base.

Bonus item was Coup d’Eclat Lifting Ampoule. It says it’s an instant facial energizer and erases the signs of fatigue. Hello can I get a barrel of this to dunk my face in? Thank you. HAHA seriously can I?

I was stoked that we got 2 cosmetic items, 1 nail polish and 1 hair item. All in all, I can say I am pretty happy with the March Glymm box. J

What do think of March’s Glymm box?
If you are interested in sugning up for a Glymm box, here is my friends link. Or you can go to Glymm.com J
